Important information for evacuated residents affected by the wildfires

Wildfires are affecting mail and parcel delivery in certain communities affected by the wildfires. Canada Post has put contingency measures in place to serve residents of these communities.

  1. We have issued service alerts for some of the communities impacted.

    Communities and regions not receiving mail and parcels today, or where mail may be delayed:

  1. Where mail cannot be delivered, we have secured mail and parcels at one of our facilities. In some locations, mail is available for pick up. Please remember to bring valid government-issued photo identification to pick up your mail.

  1. Effective immediately, eligible residents can receive free Mail Forwarding service for up to 12 months. Impacted residents have until June 30, 2019 to register for the free service.

    Mail Forwarding is an important service not just for ongoing mail, but it also provides a vital link with government and relief agencies going forward. If you receive regular cheques through the mail, it’s important for you to register.

    By registering, Canada Post will be able to ship mail to a different address selected by the customer. This can be done on a short-term basis or for longer periods, even if the address is temporary.

    • A. For impacted residents with postal codes T0H 1Z0, T0H 0S0, T0H 2P0, T0H 2G0, T0H 2W0, T0G 2K0, T0H 2V0, T0H 2B0 and T0G 2N0 and with a credit card and government-issued ID :
      • Go online at Note that you will have to provide a credit card payment in order to authenticate the transaction but you will be refunded in 5-10 business days. We apologize for this inconvenience, but to make this available quickly, we have had to take this approach.
      • Go to any post office in Alberta or British Columbia. You will not be required to show a credit card, just your government-issued photo ID. Retail employees will help you with the process, which is free of charge.
    • B. For impacted residents in Alberta with a government-issued ID bearing an eligible postal code, but no credit card:
